The UK government has confirmed the development of five new indoor cricket domes in areas currently lacking all-weather facilities. The new domes will be located in Birmingham, Bolton, Derby, Newcastle, and Nottingham, aiming to improve access to year-round cricket training and participation.
This expansion is supported by a £3 million investment from the government, which is being matched by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The combined funding will help deliver state-of-the-art indoor facilities designed to support grassroots cricket and increase engagement in underserved communities.
The announcement aligns with broader efforts to grow the sport ahead of major international events, including the ICC T20 World Cup.
